About

Hi, I’m Peter. I’m not particularly a fan of talking about my background because it always feels like I’m tooting my own horn a bit. At the same time though, I think it’s important to give some information about myself so that any readers of this have some idea about how is communicating the information to them.

I’m a historian currently completing my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Ian Worthington and I did my B.A. and M.A. (both in ancient history) at King’s College London. At the moment, my research focuses primarily on Ancient Macedonia, particularly the time period before Alexander the Great. Alexander and Macedonia are probably my primary areas of interest, though I am also interested in the Classical Greek world in general and the Roman Republic.

Outside of my academic career, I also work as a scriptwriter and historian for the YouTube channel Kings and Generals. I was the writer and historian for a number of the series there, including the ones about Julius Caesar, Spartacus and the Servile Wars, Alexander the Great and Octavian. I have always tried my best to engage with the audiences there and, in doing so, have developed a real interest into the ways in which ancient history is communicated to and received by the public. It should come as no surprise then that this theme will reoccur a few times on this site, as well as being a place for me to express some of my historical musings
